Chile, just
like others parts of the world, has been fighting against gender stereotypes, expanding
the labour field for men and women in in areas that were inconceivable for each
gender -a male nurse and an female engineer- and trying equalize remunerations,
but yet it hasn’t been fully achieved, while is difficult see woman in
leaderships positions. But of course, the changes must start by society culture
and, maybe, in this case, we have advanced a little, well, for example, now a
working mother that not dedicates 100% to housework is not frowned -not as much
as before- at least by the younger population, I think an age is arrives when
changing your mind is difficult :/ for this reason, it’s important that our
generations and the generations that coming be managers of change, breaking
down stereotypes so basics as that a male can’t cry, make housework, nor get
involving in raising children and that women must take care of their image,
make up, look slim and be kind and tender.
In Chilean families,
yet can see gender stereotypes, in mine at least, I must do housework and cook
if my parents are not in the home although I have an older brother and this
case is repeat in various homes. Not only that, the toys are still for boy or
for girl, weapons, balls and cars for him, tea sets, kitchens, dolls and babies for her; blue and pink, respectively.
I was talking recently about human evolution, we would believe that we have reached our maximum evolution, but in seems we are still a bit "caveman".
